I finished this during the Christmas season, but did not like how a few of the monsters were in Christmas dress, but most were not - it all seemed mismatched to me, so I waited until now to show it.
Yes I did say I finished it, no more monsters for me here. I understand how many are working towards filling it up with every monster there is, and that's fine (in fact some like Taz's that are really filled up are amazing), it's just not what I want.
As I have mentioned when I posted my Gold Island Song, I chose to have this island (like some of my other islands) be instrumental only - Strings, Keyboards and Percussion. I really like the resulting song, which is why I will add no more monsters.
Why is each monster is placed where it is?
- The piano and the cello are the most featured artists throughout the song, so they get the most prominent positions on the highest pedestals.
- The Shellbeat and the Riff are the biggest monsters, so they get to be front and center - which also matches their roles in the orchestra - the Shellbeat providing the strong drum backbone, and the Riff the rousing finale.
- The Pango and the Drumpler only come in on the final stanza to give more backing to the Riff, so they are tucked behind, waiting for their role.
- The Noggin and the T-Rox contribute heavily, but the primary reason they are on the lower pedestals is that they are short, so they don't interfere with the stars above them :)
- The 4 monsters flanking the Shellbeat and Riff are placed there in an attempt to cover some blank ground, and hopefully add a not-unpleasing smorgasbord of colors. Also the Pummel and the Clamble contribute more often than the Congle and the Thumpies, so they are closer to the center.
- By the way, did you ever notice how the Thumpies 'dance' is different on each island? And how they jump the highest on Gold Island? Oh those fun-lovin' Thumpies!
- The Deedges are the only monster repeated, and there are several reasons for that:
- They are the only monster I have 2 Level 15's - because they are only on Cold Island and I had a pair there, and after I fed one to Level 15 it looked unbalanced to not have the other one on Cold Island at the same size, so ... baked some more turkeys and I had a pair of 15's.
- Their shape is kind of awkward - sort of semicircular - and once I tried 2 of them on Gold Island, one of them 'flipped', I thought "Aha!" - they can be like bookends to the whole orchestra!
There is a lot of vacant space on my Gold Island, but that's OK by me - I tend to prefer things to be uncluttered (although many of you have proven how beautiful an island can be when it is packed full of monsters and decorations). Hopefully the blank spaces are relatively uniform (unlike some random islands I see where things are just lumped together willy-nilly in one corner or another), maybe even calming, so you can sit back and relax and enjoy the song ...
