I'm hoping this one is self-explanatory cuz I'm exhausted. Originally I had tried for a volcano image but getting a good-looking one was just not working out for me. Maybe a better artist might run with that idea. So I wondered what the function of the island should be, if not a volcano...

They are natural geyser tubs with mini-bars! You sit in the naturally steaming, lava-colored water, and drink the house special: Lava Cream Floater. Yet an other example, that we don't have to hide the bakeries. Luv it!

Clever decoration, and yet still lots of space. Really well thought out. Congratulations.

Lovely use of mini-volcanos to heat the bakeries! :)
Oh, it looks like the reedling is about to steal an egg from the floofy nest!

Funny!
A clever idea, well executed.
A suggestion: Once you get to the point (and you will, if you are not already there) where you do not need to bake bake bake to feed monsters, have each oven bake a separate thing (bread, cupcake, donut, pie, cake) and just leave the result in the ovens - it will make a nice visual treat for any viewer (including yourself if you click on the +/- button in the lower left hand corner) 8D

Thanks, all and good advice, floridawhite, except I am a long way from that point! I play very slowly and spend no real money and, because I prefer limited numbers and varied types of monsters, I don't have a lot of earning power unless I level everything up (which I sometimes don't do for aesthetic reasons). At the point where I don't need to bake I might just redecorate but your idea sounds attractive...!

Yep, it is absolutely beautiful. I love it. Great tile designs showcasing those bakeries. Yay for Humbug. ;)

I got very lucky with Humbugs and got three in a in short succession. One has flown to Ethereal, but the other pair chose to stay and mind the tree and the water supply. So here is the completed version. Each oven has its tenders, the mine has a couple rocky dudes to look after it without getting their feet burned, Reedling is eyeing the nest to see if the eggs are ready (to bake with). A couple watchdogs are flying ready to warn everyone via the drumming Thumpies if a volcanic event is detected. Pango-pango is standing watch over the storehouse. Actually, he doesn't like the heat and the storehouse has air conditioning that leaks out, so he's getting what little breeze he can.

HI ... muzziee <waves> at cat's island ... HI

I like the idea of the flying guards, and I am glad poor old pango is getting some comfort. However your reedling in this pic is definitely not on the job - he looks like he is having a quick snooze - so I am just going to run in and steal those eggs - that will teach him to nap on worktime! :)

This island is so original. I mean, we see islands and bakeries, and bakeries on islands... I have never thought about to emphasize them, and have them look like a must! Do you have a summer picture? I would love to see it. :-*

I am redoing Earth in keeping with an idea I had the other day involving chronic fund shortages and the new monster, Airhea - I mean, Hoola. Trying for a Pom-Pom now (who needs a Pom-Pom on Earth?? Hollow laugh - me, if I want a Hoola), then back to the rest of the re-design. Not touching the basic Bakery concept, though. The great seasonal decor really doesn't have a lot of impact on my somewhat austere design. I can hardly wait to see what the rest of you make of it! :)
cat52: August 09, 2014
The heat got to be too much for all non-rock creatures except the Hummers, who fan themselves. The Hoola is not comfy either and has decided on a long siesta. The rock guys are happy and have taken over tending the bakery and the mine, with the less burly members keeping watch. Final.

I LOVE the gray decor. The castle, quarristers, noggins, even the storage shed. WONDERFUL!

WOW 2 Humbugs on Earth, SHOWOFF!!
Just joking - I'm jealous because I don't have 1 on Earth since I sent him to Ethereal. Can't seem to breed another yet.
but seriously your Island is really beautiful. good Job. ;)

Very nice! I especially like the placement of your tiles! Good job 8D

I fiddled with it. Don't know why I call things "final" busted
Still the Bakery Planet. The flyers are still guards but I got rid of the Hoola. She was too jarring. Added some more statuary - their version of a forest - and a couple towers for the guards to live in. Going for a hot, rocky feel. And took FloridaWhite's advice on having the bakeries prepare different goodies for the staff ;)
So now it's final. :|

Loved the development of your Earth Island from April last till now, cat. It is astonishing! ok5

I love the multitude of squeeds, they look alive. You've have managed a hot and steamy and very eerie island. It's nice to see your noggins are happy - this is the island for them. :)
