Notwithstanding what some of you have done that looks very nice, I don't really like Earth Island -- that black giant head and all that red lava were, to me, flat out ugly.
My first attempts at decorating this island focused on covering up all those red spots on the ground (the very first thing I did was tear out all those burnt-looking trees, also all the rocks since I wanted a clean slate on which to try to put something together). I put the larger structures like the Bakeries, the Hotel, Bass String Bridge, Cozee Cabin, Tree Hut, etc., around the outside, leaving the center for monsters and things to cover up the remaining red spots on the ground, by placing monsters on them and putting small decorations on them. As you know, there are hardly any 'small' decorations -- I ended up using a half dozen Fire Bushes (in part because they were cheap and I wouldn't mind selling them later). The result was ... unsatisfying. Looked kind of random. Bah.
Finally at Level 26 I could buy path tiles. So I made a big design in the middle, covering up absolutely every red spot entirely. I used a combination of those Ninetile and Woodplank Paths. The result was ... unsatisfying. Those path tiles were basically black, which is part of what I did not like about Earth Island. And I never could come up with a pleasing design of path tiles.
I fussed around, bred some more monsters, added some more decorations, fiddled with placement, and the result was always ... unsatisfying. I was about ready to give up and just never go look at my Earth Island. Then I saw some of the things you all have posted here. So I thought "Well, why not try to do a total redecorating?"
So I bought my first Storage Shed, upgraded my Hotel, and put every high level monster and expensive decoration I had inside of them. I sold all the level 1 & 2 monsters, and every cheap decoration. All I had left was my essential Diamond Mine, 4 bakeries (which I was prepared to sell if I needed to), and the Unity Tree (did you know that, like the Breeding Structure, you cannot sell it? -- once you have bought it, it is yours forever, whether you want it or not).
I kept the Fuzzle Tree, even though it is cheap, and bought a mate for it and put them up high to fill in a blank space. I think its colors go better with the Shed and the Hotel than some of the bright green trees.
Previously I had tried to cover up the red, but of course, the outline of the giant head has lots of red, plus the sky is basically red, and those cannot be changed. So I thought "If you can't lick 'em, join 'em." So I embraced my inner red, and bought a gazillion Firechill Paths since they were the reddest of all of them. I tried several different stripe designs (vertical, horizontal, etc.) and this is what I ended up with:

At first I tried it with Mammotts, since their silly grins and swinging arms are infectious. But the contrast of all that bright white against the black and red -- well, it hurt my eyes. And their constant Bom Ba Bom was enough to drive you insane. So I switched to Noggins. Remember their breeding and hatching time is 30 seconds? I took one Quarrister out of the Hotel and kept breeding him with a Noggin -- I tell you, it was a wild frenzy of breeding/hatching/placing/feeding/repeat! I didn't even have time to rename them as I placed them, so to start with they had all those crummy names MSM gives them. Later, I renamed them -- number01, number02, number03, ... all the way up to number60 :)
If I watch this island for any length of time, I have to turn my PC's sound off -- their thumping is enough to give me an Excedrin headache. But watching their tapping is mesmerizing.
Some of you have already mentioned that doing this is sure not a money-maker, and of course you are correct. But what you might not have thought about is -- how rapidly they earn their pennies, and how time-consuming it is to make the rounds and collect their coins! It seems like you just get done and those moneybags are popping up again right behind you! I might get used to just watching their fingers tapping and the moneybag balloons, and not bother collecting. See screenshot below, which is what I first see when I go look at My Earth Island
Some of you have asked, about the full-of-noggins-or-mammotts islands, "What's the point?" In my case at least, it was desperation to try something different on my least-favorite island. Also, I am happy with all of my other islands and no changes will be made there (except when Summer comes and the Hoola is available -- at least I hope BF will see fit to do that) so I really needed something to do. And it did keep me busy for quite a while.
But I'd never do it again :|

LOLOL FW! You were not alone with the misery of Earth Island... I immensely hated it at first time, too. The red-black background, the pricey upgrades, the weird music. I can safely say, I have spent time decorating and redecorating all over again my earth, than I have spent time to decorate ALL of my other islands together. The islands are in need of a theme, by my opinion, or at least some inner feeling about how they should look like... I had none of that with my earth.
Although, I think, the all-the-same-monsters islands suffer a poor delivery of the music, the earth-land music is forgettable at best, so I like, when people going for the look instead. And look, you have achieved!
I love your arrangement of your nogs! Your island is very carefully measured, and arranged! Very pleasing to the eye - you did a great job!

It's hilarious, I love it! Many, many thumbs up are on the way!
I also dislike the colors of Earth very much; it looks like a war zone after a nuclear detonation. Once I get my castle upgraded (yet again) and can afford to place more than two Quarristers and a lonely (extra-crispy) Furcorn, I'm going to just use mine for $$ generation and not worry too much about its looks.

OH MY! My eyes! WOW! :| :)
I agree that this is a difficult island. So far I haven't bothered do do much with mine, but when I someday upgrade my castle, I intend to fill it with Quarristers, which I want to place close together so they look like a mountain of heads. That's the only plan I have with mine, and it won't be for QUITE some time yet.
